Ross McKelvey

I have been interested in photography for longer than I care to remember, but only started taking it seriously as a hobby when I joined BPIC Camera Club in Belfast approximately 5 years ago. I am the Club Chairman for 2009/10 and hope to preside over another succesful year for Belfast's number one Camera Club.

I produce my own quality prints on an Epson R2880 printer, and try to encourage others to 'print' as much as possible. The digital revolution has made remarkable changes to photography, but it has also given rise to a whole breed of what I call 'internet photographers' - who have photographs all over the internet, but who never actually print a photograph?! Forgive the irony of making this point on an internet 'gallery' but for me, nothing compares with viewing a hard print.

I have attended courses on landscape photography in the Peak District, North Derbyshire, and several studio lighting and portraiture courses.
I can teach photoshop (using CS3 and CS4) and can also teach studio lighting, either one-on-one or to small groups.

I use mainly Canon equipment - 1DIIN, 5DII and a 30D (converted to Infra Red). I also use a Panasonic LX3 compact camera for times when it is not practical to carry a DSLR - the camera you have with you, takes a better picture than the camera you left at home!
